Sitting Bull was a Hunkpapa Lakota leader who led his people to the Canadian west during the resistance of the United States government policies. After all of the buffalo had vanished from the Canadian prairies, Sitting Bull and his people returned to the United States. His arrest was issued after it was found that he was practicing and promoting the Ghost Dance Religion, a practice banned by the U.S. government. Sitting Bull, along with his son, Crowfoot, were both killed in the arrest attempt.
