Set in the here and now, the new novel gathers together a group of misfits who form bonds of friendship and romance out of a shared empathy for animals. The focal point of Fauna is an auto-wrecking yard, located somewhat fantastically in the Don River Valley and managed by Guy, a mechanic who rehabilitates wounded wildlife when he isn't towing cars.
