In the past three decades Canadian writers of a diversity of backgrounds have contributed to the body of works that is designated "Canadian Literature," challenging the traditional understanding of that term, its conventions, and its boundaries. Critics of a similar diversity have appeared to study and explain these works and to establish them in the minds of the public and in the halls of academia.
