A contemporary story based on the Chumash Indian legend about the origin of dolphins. Hutash the earth goddess must decide what to do with her tribe when the Chumash people grow too numerous for their island home. She chooses to send half of them to the land across the water, and saves the other from drowning by turning them into dolphins.
