This production commemorates the First World War battle of Vimy Ridge. On April 9, 1917, a Corps of Canadian soldiers captured the strategic ridge in France from the Germans, marking not only a significant Allied victory, but also the first time Canadians had fought as an independent force, and not as part of the British Army. The Canadian Corps suffered 20,000 casualties - 5,000 of these would never return home. This video features 90-year-old War Amps member, Perce Lemmon, who fought at Vimy. He joins War Amps CEO Cliff Chadderton to describe what life was like as a young soldier fighting in the trenches. The use of entensive archival war footage makes his story come to life.
