Jolene, a student, writes artist Martin Sloane after seeing his work, and eventually, they become lovers. Then one day, he vanishes, nearly destroying her, until ten years pass and she hears that he may be in Ireland. Going to confront him, she attempts to piece together his past, and to slowly understand the struggle of bearing the memory of the missing and the dead.
