Melanie Watt is NOT the author of this book and Mouse is NOT the star of this story- at least not after Chester, Melanie's plump calico cat is finished with his big red editing marker. Mouse is sent on vacation: "Hasta la vista, Mousie!" as Chester uses the power of the pen to create a perfectly Chester-filled day for himself. Can Chester be tamed? A delightful author/hero sure to elicit giggles. He's even conveniently marked a place on the cover of his book for an award sticker!

From the Curio.ca streaming audio-visual collection. One challenge for medical devices that are implanted within the body - such as pacemakers, drug pumps or neural stimulators - is power. Generally, they're powered by batteries, but when the power runs out, the batteries have to be replaced, requiring further invasive surgery. Professor John Rogers, from the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, has developed a device that can generate electricity from the movement of organs within the body. His device uses a piezo-electric material that produces electricity when bent. When attached to a beating heart, it produces enough electricity to run a pacemaker or other device, while apparently having no impact on the heart's function.

The Canadian government has ignored their petitions, but hope rises when Louis Riel returns to help.

From the Curio.ca streaming audio-visual collection. It is well known how quickly and efficiently snakes can slither across the ground. But a group of snakes called Chrysopelea use similar movements to help them sustain flight. These one-metre-long snakes use their signature "S" shape to swim through the air, as they glide down from the tree-tops in the rainforests of Southeast Asia. But that's not all. Dr. Jake Socha, an assistant professor in the Department of Engineering, Science and Mechanics at Virginia Tech University, has found that these snakes change their body shape while in the air, in order to increase aerodynamics. By moving their ribs forward and closer to their spine, the snake's body flattens to allow it to slice through the air. This same reconfiguration creates a concave trough along its underbelly to help maintain loft.

From the TVO streaming audio-visual collection. Episode of the Agenda aired on September 12, 2019. In the blistering housing markets of southern Ontario one group that's often overlooked in the conversation is seniors. Some are living in houses that are too big and hard to maintain. Others can't find suitable AND affordable stock that allows them to downsize. And others still need new services and amenities that their neighbourhoods simply don't have. The Agenda discusses the issue of appropriate housing for seniors.

A thrill-seeking explorer wants to find and climb the biggest tree in Canada outside a logging community on the brink of collapse. Set in the formerly prosperous town of Port Renfrew, BC, this adventure documentary is told through the point-of-view of the residents, the local indigenous community, and a group of big tree climbers. Hunting Giants is a cinematic adventure into the old-growth rainforests of British Columbia that asks a question faced by resource communities around the world: extract profit until nothing remains or risk everything in pursuit of a more sustainable future?

The Honour Drum is a uniquely envisioned and crafted project shared between two Canadian friends—an Indigenous woman from the West Coast and a non-Indigenous man from Ontario—to reach children, families and classrooms across Canada and around the world with a message of great beauty and truth that should not be ignored. This vibrant book is an important starting place for learning and insight that is vital and, for many people of all ages, overdue. The Honour Drum is a love letter to the Indigenous people of Canada and a humble bow to Indigenous cultures around the world.
