Space - with all the stars... planets, and everything around you - it hasn't always existed! So how do scientists think the universe formed? Around 14 billion years ago, there was just a small dot. Inside that dot, a massive amount of tightly packed energy gathered. Nothing else existed. What happened next is called the Big Bang.

Buddhism is followed by millions of people worldwide and is not just a religion but also a way of life. Daily life varies but often includes rituals, meditation, moral guidelines, and recurring festivals. In this film, we take a closer look at what life as a Buddhist can look like. You will find out what it is like to live in a Buddhist monastery, celebrate religious festivals, and follow the five moral rules that define how to live. The film also explores how the core ideas of Buddhism have spread across the world, influencing both modern psychology and popular culture.

Electronic reproduction. You know the Super Soaker. It's one of top twenty toys of all time. And it was invented entirely by accident. Trying to create a new cooling system for refrigerators and air conditioners, inventor Lonnie Johnson instead created the mechanics for the iconic toy. A love for rockets, robots, inventions, and a mind for creativity began early in Lonnie Johnson's life. Growing up in a house full of brothers and sisters, persistence and a passion for problem solving became the cornerstone for a career as an engineer and his work with NASA. But it is his invention of the Super Soaker water gun that has made his most memorable splash with kids and adults.

Title proper from title frame. "It's 1963, and things are changing for Jezebel Turner. Her beloved grandmother has just passed away. The local police deputy won't stop harassing her family. With school integration arriving in South Carolina, Jez and her twin brother, Jay, are about to begin the school year with a bunch of new kids. But the biggest change comes when Jez and Jay turn eleven, and their uncle, Doc, tells them he's going to train them in rootwork. Jez and Jay have always been fascinated by the African American folk magic that has been the legacy of their family for generations--especially the curious potions and powders Doc and Gran would make for the people on their island. But Jez soon finds out that her family's true power goes far beyond small charms and elixirs, and not a moment too soon. Because when evil both natural and supernatural comes to show itself in town, it's going to take every bit of the magic she has inside her to see her through"--Provided by publisher.

The passengers aboard the SS Komagata Maru were part of a dramatic challenge to Canada’s former practice of excluding immigrants from India.
In 1914, the Komagata Maru arrived in Vancouver carrying some 376 passengers, all British subjects from India. The events that followed illustrated that Canada was considered “a white man’s country” by those in power and affirmed the second-class status of South Asians within the British Empire. .

Double the fun! Koralee and Andee build two loopy marble runs that end with a splash! Educational Gist: In this episode we discover how much height is needed for a marble to "loop the loop". We observe the conversion of potential energy (stored energy) to kinetic energy (the energy of motion), while testing how high the track needs to start in order for the marble to have enough stored energy to make it all the way around the loop.

What does that mean? And if we're in a democracy, why does no one elect the premier? TVO politics nerd Steve Paikin explains.

They can twist around your legs when you swim in a lake, grow on rocks, or live in symbiosis with a fungus. This film is about algae, one of the oldest life forms on our planet. They mostly grow in lakes and oceans but can also be found on land. The film explains how algae function in nature and why they are important for keeping the atmosphere and the air we breathe in balance. Finally, you will learn about the problems that can arise if algae grow too rapidly in one place.
