From the TVO streaming audio-visual collection. Episode of the Agenda aired on February 20, 2020. Theatre companies work hard to put terrific dramatic productions on stage. So, it's never good when what's happening in the back office is making headlines instead. Such was the case not long ago at the critically acclaimed Soulpepper theatre company. It now has a new artistic director who's rebuilding the company in some pretty inventive ways. Weyni Mengesha formerly directed shows there, and after many years in the U.S., is back to take the helm.

From the TVO streaming audio-visual collection. Episode of the Agenda aired on February 9, 2021. Researchers at McGill University have found that child marriage is not only legal in Canada but has been happening across the country for decades, even in spite of efforts by the federal government to clamp down on the practice overseas. Why does it persist and what can be done about it? We discuss the scope of the problem and potential solutions with Alissa Koski, assistant professor in the Department of Epidemiology, Biostatistics and Occupational Health at McGill University; Samra Zafar, author of "The Good Wife: Escaping a Life I Never Chose;" and Rowena Pinto, chief program officer at UNICEF Canada.

Saajin loves his name-he loves it so much that he sees it spelled out in the world around him in his snacks, in the sky and sometimes he even sings it aloud. On his first day of school, Saajin is excited to meet his new classmates, but things take a turn when the teacher mispronounces his name as Say-jin and he is not sure how-or if he should-correct her. After trying to live with the different version of his name for a while and some thoughtful conversations with his family about the meaning behind it, Saajin realizes the importance of reclaiming his name and embracing his identity.

Hinduism is one of the main world religions, with more than one billion followers. Faith, along with its rules for living, is part of the daily life for many Hindus. This film explores Hinduism through daily rituals and practices, including puja, meditation, and vibrant festivals like Diwali and Holi. We delve into beliefs around ahimsa, purity, and the legacy of the caste system, as well as life's key transitions - from name-giving ceremonies to weddings and funerals. Hinduism is not only a faith - it's a way of life, lived through prayer, celebrations, and a deep connection to old traditions.

Eric encrypts a secret message employing the Caesar box cipher code which was used by the army of the Roman emperor, Julius Caesar, more than 2,000 years ago! It's not magic ... it's mathematical! The pedagogical side: To decrypt a secret message, you need a key, or shared information about the structure of the cipher. In the example, a message that is 16 letters long is written in boxes across a square grid and then read by column.
