In the ruins of a place once known as North America lies the nation of Panem, a shining Capitol surrounded by twelve outlying districts. The Capitol is harsh and cruel and keeps the districts in line by forcing them all to send one boy and one girl between the ages of twelve and eighteen to participate in the annual Hunger Games, a fight to the death on live TV. Sixteen-year-old Katniss Everdeen regards it as a death sentence when she steps forward to take her sister's place in the Games. But Katniss has been close to dead before-and survival, for her, is second nature. Without really meaning to, she becomes a contender. But if she is to win, she will have to start making choices that weigh survival against humanity and life against love.

The young people who contributed to this magazine were asked to submit work that is personally authentic; that challenges and disrupts past and present colonial narratives; and that inspires increasingly responsible relationships between Métis, Inuit, and First Nations Peoples and non-Indigenous communities now and into the future.

From the Curio channel: News in Review. When the United States declared it would withdraw its troops from Afghanistan by September 2021, Canada came under pressure to evacuate its allies. Thousands of Afghans who had assisted both Canada and the U.S. with the war effort would be at risk if they remained in the country. But as U.S. troops withdrew, Taliban forces were able to move into the vacuum, quickly regaining territory. When the air bridge closed many were left behind.

Portia White was a teacher and singer, and the first African-Canadian contralto to win international acclaim. "Nobody ever told me to sing. I'm the daughter of a Baptist minister - I was born singing." From humble beginnings in Truro, Nova Scotia, Portia White would go on to conquer the international stage as one of the best classical contraltos of the 20th century.

This book reads from right to left in the traditional Japanese format.
Translation of: Mainkurafuto sekai no hate eno tabi. Peaceful life in a perfectly constructed town bores ten-year-old Nico into mischief. Riding Creepers while they explode is fun and all, but what he really wants is to escape the blocky confines of his home and take his crafting skills on an adventure to the ends of the Overworld. Just how big is the world, anyway, and what could stand in his way? Nico gets his chance to prove how strong he's become when zombies attack! After modding an innovative solution to repel the undead foes, Nico earns the right to go on the adventure he's always wanted. But right away, he runs into another zombie . . . and this one can talk!
