But when Mummy announces that they will soon have a new baby brother or sister, Malaika is unsure how to feel about another change in her family. Will her mother forget about her? Back at school, Malaika is excited to see her teacher and classmates, and makes friends with a new girl who has recently arrived from a faraway country, just like Malaika. Then on her birthday, not one, but two surprises arrive to remind Malaika of the importance of family, and the story ends with a celebration of family love.

But every hour, every day, every season, whether in the city or the forest, it is different. The sky tells many stories: in the weather, in the clouds, in the stars, in the imagination. Renowned artist Barbara Reid brings her unique vision to a new topic - the sky around us. In brilliant Plasticine illustrations, she envisions the sky above and around us in all its moods. Picture the sky. How do you feel?"--

Indigenous peoples have understood the sky world for centuries. At Manitoba’s Bannock Point, Drew views petroforms that were spiritual and astronomical markers, physical reminders of sacred clan teachings. The Salmon Ruins, NM, were likely an astronomical observatory where Pueblo people charted the skies, marked the solstices, the sun’s movements, and the moon’s cycles.
800-year-old cave dwellings at Mesa Verde, Colorado, overlook the mysterious Sun Temple. The images carved by Pueblo people at Petroglyph National Monument in Albuquerque also show astronomical knowledge. In Winnipeg, Wilfred Buck has gleaned star lore from Cree elders. His indigenous constellation map depicts characters from sacred stories, including the trickster Weesageechak. Traditional teachings and stories are mirrored by indigenous science.

From the Curio channel: News in Review. During the COVID-19 pandemic, one of the groups that has been disproportionately affected is women. Women tend to be the majority of workers in front-facing service jobs. When COVID-19 hit, many of those jobs disappeared. Also, women still bear more of the responsibility for childcare and household management, resulting in many leaving the workforce as schools and daycares shuttered. Statistics reveal that between February and October 2020, 20,600 women fell out of the labour force, even as 68,000 more men joined. Women's participation in the workforce is now at its lowest level in decades. In this edition of News In Review we look at the impact of this prolonged pandemic on women.
