It highlights the bravery and sacrifices of the British, Canadian, and American troops who took part in the invasion, and the importance of securing key bridges and silencing German defences. The video also discusses the modern-day commemorations and re-enactments of the D-Day landings, with veterans and enthusiasts coming together to honour the memory of those who fought and died. This episode provides a detailed and moving account of one of the most significant military operations of the Second World War.

Sharing Our Habitat includes a video series and lessons for grades 4 to 11, on species at risk (SAR) in southern Ontario. Each episode features our young investigators learning about a particular ecosystem and the species that rely on it. They formulate key questions, then interview species experts, Aboriginal elders, landowners, and volunteers, on why species are at risk, and why people should care and what they can do. Each episode also features the hosts assisting with a recovery project.

Lesson plans and Our Incredible World website available under Additional Info tag. In this final episode, our investigators are assigned to look to their own habitat to find species at risk. Charlie, now a dedicated member of the team, suggests bats. Jack’s in favour û finally a species worthy to star in his horror film. All three go on this adventure that takes them into the depths of a nearby bat cave. They also meet with an urban planner who explains what she does to ensure that urban spaces leave room for the needs of wild species. Determined to also do their best to help wild species, the team comes up with a brilliant plan.

He shows us his hand drum that has both his English and traditional names on it. Luca and his best friend Jonah are on the swim team together, and love learning how to race in the pool. He got a trophy for "Most Improved," that he shows us in his room. He also shows us his hockey medals and his mini-chicken farm! After he introduces us to his family, he explains his very special job - he's in charge of all the smudging. He demonstrates with his shell, feather and sage before his sister Sophianne performs a tobacco ceremony. Luca also loves to play video games, and makes online video tutorials to share all his tips and tricks. He's got a pretty cool set-up! Luca, Jonah and Sophianne take an ice-cream break, and then back home he'll show us the wood carving he's doing! Luca's special word is "makwa" which means "bear" in the Algonquin language.

Unofficially known as the "Fourth Arm of the Services," the Merchant Navy endured serious threats from mines, aircraft, surface raiders, and a particularly vicious German U-boat blockade, all while having a limited means of self-defense. In this new Memory Project video, two Merchant Navy veterans share their stories of crossing the Atlantic to deliver vital goods to the war effort and the long fight to get their proper recognition. During the Second World War, Canadian merchant vessels made 25,343 voyages from North America to Britain, carrying nearly 165 million tons of military and civilian supplies. Canadian Rear Admiral Leonard Murray, who commanded the Canadian Northwest Atlantic theatre during the war, said "the Battle of the Atlantic was not won by any navy or air force, it was won by the courage, fortitude and determination of the British and Allied Merchant Navy." Since 2003, September 3 has been recognized as Merchant Navy Veterans Day by the federal government.

Episode 1 of the documentary series "The Last Great Crusade" offers a detailed account of the planning and execution of the D-Day landings in Normandy during World War II. It describes the events leading up to the invasion, including the rise of Nazi Germany, the evacuation of British troops at Dunkirk, and the entry of the United States into the war. The immense logistical challenges faced by the Allies in preparing for the invasion, such as amassing troops, vehicles, and supplies across the English Channel are highlighted. Viewers will gain an understanding of the importance of the D-Day landings in turning the tide of the war and liberating Europe from Nazi occupation, and the sacrifices made by the soldiers who participated in this historic event.

Sound is produced by sound waves, which is compressed air travelling through the air at different pressures. Our ear can receive the sound waves and convert them into electrical signals, telling us what we hear. This film is about the ear and our sense of hearing. We will peek in through the ear and take a look behind the eardrum and follow the tiny bones, the hammer, the anvil, the stirrup, and then finally reach the cochlea, which sends the signals further through the hearing nerve, all the way up to the brain, which then interpret what we hear. Finally we will take a look at the balance organ, also located in the ear. We will explain that it allows us to stand up and keep our balance, and that it contains tiny tubes filled with viscous fluid, and also that our sense of balance can make some of us experience motion sickness.

Gold was discovered in 1896 in the creeks of a native fishing camp at the junction of the Klondike and Yukon Rivers and this caused what was known as the Klondike Gold Rush. Termed the "Paris of the North" Dawson City was the largest city west of Winnipeg, 40,000 at its peak with telephone service, running water and steam heat. Elaborate hotels, theatres and dance halls were erected, and Scottish philanthropist Andrew Carnegie donated $25,000 for a public library in 1903. The town was staked out by Joe Ladue and named after George M. Dawson, Director of the Geological Survey of Canada, who explored the region in 1887. In 1899 the Gold Rush was over and 8000 people left Dawson that summer. By 1902 the city only numbered 5000 and Dawson was officially an incorporated city. The "Dawson City Gold Rush" song, written and performed by Scott McLeod, is the sound track for this animated drawings video.

Fifteen-year-old Marisol is the daughter of a soucouyant. Every new moon, she sheds her skin like the many women before her, shifting into a fireball witch who must fly into the night and slowly sip from the lives of others to sustain her own. While Marisol hoped they would leave their old traditions behind when they emigrated from the islands, she knows this will never happen while she remains ensnared by the one person who keeps her chained to her magical past -- her mother. Seventeen-year-old Genevieve is a newly minted older half sister of twins. When a new nanny arrives to help with the twins, a family secret connecting her to Marisol is revealed, and Gen begins to find answers to questions she hasn't even thought to ask. But the girls soon discover that the very skin keeping their flames locked beneath the surface may be more explosive to the relationships around them than any ancient magic.
