Using vintage footage and commentary from journalist Robert Fulford and designer Macklin Hancock, director Andrew Faiz, a former resident, manages to reconcile history with the current reality of Flemingdon Park. Built in 1961, the visionary developer of the United Nations complex in New York, Flemingdon Park started out as a trendy, urban utopia for artists and young professionals living in Toronto. Within a decade it was sold and became subsidized housing, eventually attracting tens of thousands of refugees and new immigrants from around the globe. Often cited as a model of urban planning for communities, Flemingdon Park's flip side is its history of violence and racism that residents have fought to overcome. Des[ |pite its challenges, the community succeeds at making people from around the world feel "at home".in a different kind of utopia - one where differences are celebrated and new visions are possible.
