Building on the 'coming together' of friends and musicians in band, Communion presents a variety of musical emotions. The thematic material is initially introduced in a chorale-style which serves as the warm-up to the vitality and enthusiasm found in the band community. The composition draws to a climatic conclusion with the bold brass melody embellished with woodwind flourishes.
