Young Jacob's life is riddled with anxiety. When Jacob can't write a short story for the day a "Real Author" comes to class, he fears that he doesn't have any imagination. When Margarita, a pretty girl from Puerto Rico visits the class, Jacob becomes so self-conscious that he can't even give his report on his favorite thing in the world - beavers. Jacob even breaks the class's anniversary present for their teacher! Jacob's worries seem endless: he's short, he's clumsy, he can't fish, he has trouble with math, his friends laugh at him during his presentation, and he's sure they never, ever would come to his boring birthday party. Jacob soon learns, however, that you don't have to be perfect to build perfect friendships, and good friends are there for you when you least expect it.
