The psychic vampire Selene uses a mutated form of the T-O virus to raise the dead, along with the seer Destiny, unaware that Destiny had a hitchhiker on her trip back from the grave--the powerful being called Proteus. Now, Proteus heads for Muir Island, the last place it called home, and the X-Men must try to stop it, as well as fighting off the army of dead that Selene sends against their island home, Utopia.
