Nib the mouse lives with his extended family beneath the subway tracks. He is happy collecting the treasures discarded by subway riders and listening to bedtime stories about a special place called Tunnel's End. When Nib's cousins come to visit and destroy his cozy nest, he decides to leave home and begin a perilous journey to Tunnel's End. Along the way he meets Lola who joins him in his quest. The two mice have many adventures before they crawl out of the tunnel and discover the dangerous and beautiful world that lies beyond.
