In contrast to other civilizations of the Ancient Era, the Greeks saw humans as equally interesting and nobel as the gods. Their technological and artistic achievements soared beyond anything previously seen. From the palace of Knossos to the Oracle at Delphi, from the communal and democratic theatres such as Epidaurus, to the Colossus of Rhodes, to the stadiums and temples at Olympia, Greek architecture and sculpture kept improving. Finally, the Parthenon of Athens reached a summit of perfection in its subtle and graceful design elements that have never been surpassed.
