Freedom is about self-determination. It means being able to make your own decisions and take your life in whatever direction you want it to go. Throughout history, some people have had to fight for freedom-the freedom to have basic human rights, such as freedom of speech, freedom of association, freedom of religion, and freedom to choose their government. Sometimes, the battle is waged peacefully through words and peacefully resistance. Other times, fighting for freedom results in conflicts, revolutions, wars, and, sadly, loss of life.
