Sigmund Freud's Italian nephew, Robert, runs a practice in Paris during the 1980s. To his couch comes an assortment of characters including a disturbed lady who turns her compulsion to throw animal blood at people into an art form; and Maurice, a Canadian writer-in-exile. The outrageous and surreal imagery of dreams adds to this humorous view of Freudian psychoanalysis.
