Maude's birth mother died after giving her up for adoption. When her friend Treena goes to college in the same town where the birth mother grew up, Maude decides to visit and explore her past as part of a senior photography project. Bennett, who lives in the same dorm, understands Maude's need to find her mother. As information surfaces, Maude starts to realize that her mother's past doesn't have to define her own future.
