At the end of this activity, students should be able to specify the main types of stimuli received by the nervous system, describe a neurone and the basic types of neurons, define the basic elements of the nervous system involved in producing the appropriate response to a stimulus, characterize the structure and function of a synapse, and define a neurotransmitter.
