Newly escaped from the stifling boredom of growing up in a small town with an overprotective father, college freshman Laura is more than ready for her first great adventure. Sure, some of the campus traditions at Silas University are a little weird, but Laura and her funloving roommate Betty aren't going to let that get in the way of their good time. But when Betty vanishes without a trace, and a sarcastic, nocturnal philosophy student named Carmilla moves into Betty's side of the room before her posters are even down, Laura starts to see the dangerous side of the university's "harmless quirks." In spite of Carmilla's mocking disapproval, Laura begins investigating Betty's disappearance, and what she discovers is stranger at every turn: Betty isn't the first girl to go missing, just the first who hasn't come back...
