Languages of our land / Langues de notre terre est un recueil de poèmes et d'histoires de douze écrivains autochtones émergents et établis au Québec et écrivant en français. Ces écrivains ont tous participé soit au programme Aboriginal Emerging Writers Program (maintenant le Programme d'écriture autochtone) du Centre Banff, financé par le Conseil des arts du Canada, soit à la section francophone de ce programme, Programme à l'évolution d'écrivains autochtones en début de carrière, au Québec. Les oeuvres sont présentées en traduction anglaise à côté de l'original en français, et entrelacées de mots dans les langues autochtones ancestrales des écrivains -- innu-aimun, wendat, cri et algonquin -- expliqués dans un glossaire à la fin de l'anthologie. Cette anthologie offre aux lecteurs l’occasion de découvrir la richesse et la multiplicité des langages, des intonations et des images contenus dans les récits et les poèmes écrits par ceux qui sont influencés par les langues dont ils ont hérité, écrivant dans une langue qu’ils ont embrassée. Languages of Our Land/Langues de notre terre is a collection of poems and stories by twelve emerging and established Indigenous writers living in Quebec and writing in French. These writers all participated in either the Aboriginal Emerging Writers Program (now the Indigenous Writing Program) at The Banff Centre, funded by the Canada Council for the Arts, or the francophone chapter of this program, Programme à l'intention d'écrivains autochtones en début de carrière, in Quebec. The writing within Languages is presented in English translation alongside the French original and interlaced with words in the writers' ancestral Indigenous languages -- Innu-aimun, Wendat, Cree, and Algonquin -- glossed at the end of the anthology. This anthology presents readers with an opportunity to experience the rich multiplicity of languages, intonations, and images within the stories and poems authored by those influenced by the languages they've inherited, writing in a language they've embraced.
