It is 1932 and nine-year-old Lennie Gwyther has a dream - to ride his pony, Ginger Mick, from his home in country Victoria all the way to Sydney for the opening of the Sydney Harbour Bridge. Join Lennie on his 1,000-kilometre adventure as he braves fire, floods and fog, camps alone in the bush, and faces a thief in the night. From swaggies to newspaper reporters, Lennie meets all sorts of people along the way - even the Prime Minister. Finally, the day of the opening of the Sydney Harbour Bridge arrives and Lennie and Ginger Mick take part in the spectacular celebrations.
