Ten year old Margaret can hardly wait to be reunited with her family in the Arctic. It's been two years since she left to attend a residential school. Coming ashore, her mother barely recognizes her and calls out "Not my girl!". Margaret has been marked as an outsider. She can no longer remember her native language and stories and hates the food. Eventually, she relearns her language and family's way and also discovers how important it is to be true to one's self and culture.
