Math games: grades 5-6 is designed to reinforce the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM) Standards as students compete to solve mathematical problems and win games. Various math skills are needed to solve the problems in each game, but students must also apply strategy to correctly solve three problems in a row to win the game. Instructions for playing the games for individual students, small groups, or the whole class are included in the teacher information pages. Concepts covered include place value, math operations, estimation, fractions, decimals, percents, proportions, properties, algebra, measurement, geometry, data analysis, probability, and problem solving.
