His servant Jupiter fears Legrand is going insane and goes to Legrand's friend, who agrees to visit. Legrand pulls the other two into an adventure after deciphering a secret message that will lead to a buried treasure. "The mystery of Marie Roget": Poe's detective character Dupin and his sidekick undertake the unsolved murder of Marie Roget in Paris, a perfume shop employee, whose body is found in the Seine River.
