The purpose of this guideline is to support educators and administrators as they implement assessment “for, as and of” learning as per Growing Success...Assessment is an ongoing process where educators and students document, reflect upon and respond to learning. Assessment “for, as and of” learning is a cycle that begins the first day of learning and continues throughout the school year/course.As educators we need to collaboratively engage in conversations and reflect on our assessment practices and pedagogical approaches to ensure that assessment and evaluation is student-centered and identity affirming. Research shows that students are adversely impacted when assessments do not honour Indigenous approaches to success and well-being or are not embedded in equitable, anti-racist, and anti-oppressive practices. Together, we can improve our assessment practices so that equitable outcomes for Indigenous students and other historically underserved communities are realized.
