"Don’t Ask Me Where I’m From: A Travelling Exhibition on Post-Migrant Art is the catalogue companion to a ground-breaking international touring show of artworks by second-generation immigrant artists who explore the dynamics of living between different cultures and the hybrid identities they lead. The exhibition, co-curated by Marianne Fenton (Aga Khan Museum, Toronto) and Marion Eele (Fondazione Imago Mundi, Italy), is hosted by the Aga Khan Museum in March-April 2020. With the rise of immigration as a political issue throughout the world, this project examines the challenges and creativity of a generation that bridges the cultures of the artists’ homelands and those of their parents. It features new works by 15 artists who collectively represent almost two dozen different cultures and whose stories trace immigration, settlement, and integration around the globe. The artists include Sukaina Kubba (Canada/Iraq), Erika Kaminishi (Brazil/Japan), Jeanno Gaussi (Germany/Afghanistan), and Liberty Battson (South Africa/Zimbabwe), among others."-- Provided by publisher.
