The Métis style ribbon skirt was worn by high plains Métis women beginning in the 1800s and until the mid-1900s. There are many skirt patterns used by Métis women, but this one became uniquely associated with the Métis women across their homeland for almost 150 years. The purpose of this resource manual is to share a method to make a four-panel, contemporary style of Métis ribbon skirt. This manual will also give the historical context of ribbon skirts for Métis women.
