The Guidelines have been developed to clarify Ontario school counsellors’ understanding of their position in terms of the profession’s ethical principles. There are two subsequent aims worthy of note. 1. The Guidelines will be of assistance in counsellor education programs or professional development by stimulating dialogue regarding ethical principles. 2. It is intended to be used as a reference tool to encourage reflection regarding one’s own personal practice. This will allow Counsellors to review various scenarios they may encounter in academic/personal counselling sessions with students.
