Named for the Greek word kryptos meaning "hidden," krypton is a colourless, odourless and unreactive noble gas that occurs in trace amounts in the atmosphere. It's used in fluorescent lights, photography and lasers.  This Element of Surprise segment features the following experts: Anthony Lapp, Noble Gas lab manager, AEL AMS Laboratory, University of Ottawa; Ella Kirkland, master's candidate, Chemistry, Carleton University; and Alastair Kierulf, PhD candidate, Chemistry, Queen's University.
