Halcyon has been serving in the queen's army. When she reunited with her sister Eavdne earlier than expected, Eva knows something has gone terribly wrong. Halcyon is on the run, hunted by her commander-- and charged with a terrible crime. Halcyon's life is spared, but is sentenced to five years in the quarry and five years serving the family she wronged. Eva volunteers to serve part of the sentence, determined to absolve her sister.
