In 1950’s Brighton, Marion falls for Tom, a policeman. He teaches her to swim and she believes her love is enough for both of them. Later, Patrick meets Tom and is captivated, introducing Tom to a world of art and beauty. For safety, Tom marries Marion but secretly meets Patrick.
