"In this book, the authors describe each of 10 mindframes that were developed around the themes of equity, identities, and belonging. The mindframes are the result of a Delphi study with more than 80 participants. Each chapter will follow a similar format: the author will state the mindframe, provide a self-reflection exercise and a vignette, describe the mindframe and the Visible Learning research that supports it, describe next steps, discuss what implementing the mindframe looks like in practice, and end with exercises. The 10 mindframes are: Equity 1. Disrupt inequities. We are in a constant process of discovering, addressing, disrupting, and correcting the systemic inequities impacting our students. 2. Embrace diversity. We acknowledge, affirm, and seek to embrace the diverse cultures and identities of our students, communities, and colleagues. 3. Disrupt biases. We recognize and then seek to disrupt our unconscious biases toward our students, families, staff, and community. 4. Equitable opportunities. We are relentless in providing equitable opportunities for all students, particularly to eliminate injustices that can continue as barriers to educational access and opportunities for all students. Identities 5. Create sustaining environments. We cultivate fortifying and sustaining environments for all students to express diversity in their multiple dimensions of identity. 6. Affirm identities. We provide opportunities to acknowledge, affirm, and embrace the identities of all our students. 7. Remove identity barriers. We are collectively responsible for removing barriers to students learning, including barriers related to identities"-- Provided by publisher.
