Sunil's father is dying and the young man knows that he will soon have to take over his role as Chief of the island of Solara. He is also aware of an impending confrontation with his uncle who wants to seize power for himself... and to marry Rialta, the girl Sunil loves. In addition to these concerns, Sunil has a growing premonition that evil forces from the world outside their island will come to change the Solarans' lives.
