Fleeing famine in her native Ethiopia, five-year-old Yuvi is sure she will have a candy tree when she arrives in Jerusalem. Yuvi’s Candy Tree is the story of a family’s survival as refugees who have to flee for their lives due to their religious faith and supports building understanding of the experiences of refugee children with intersectional identities, who suffer oppression due to their faith.
