Duncan is struggling to fit in at his new school, and to manage his newfound special power. It turns out that Duncan can "see" things just by touching them with his fingers, things like the letter on a Scrabble tile. In the meantime, April is searching for a mystery boy she met years ago, and trying to survive as a non-jock in her sports-obsessed family. And Nate is trying hard to please his ultra-competitive father, who seems to care about nothing but Scrabble and winning. Duncan, April, and Nate might be three very different kids, but they have at least one thing in common: They've all come to compete at the National Youth Scrabble Tournament. And it's here that they become friends and discover that some things are more important than winning and losing.
