Kwan Ming makes three friends on his journey from China to the New World. When they arrive they have trouble finding jobs, but when they do, Kwan Ming lets his friends have the best jobs: tailor, shoemaker and baker. When he takes a lowly job with a mean boss, his friends come to his aid, because of his generosity of spirit in letting them have the better jobs.
