The kit for beginning English language learners is designed to support TDSB teachers and parents with programming for newly arrived students, who are in the very early stages of learning English. It can be particulary helpful for schools that do not usually receive English language learners, and do not have English as a second language and English literacy development programs.
The B.E.L.L. kits boxes vary in content and include all and any of the following: Welcome to English, a picture dictionary for newcomers; Oxford picture dictionary for kids; BELL kit handbook; ERGO Elementary initial language assessment tool; Let's learn English for school, dictionary, English version; Manipulatives: magnetic letters, magnetic numbers, jigsaw-map of Canada or alphabet bingo; Vocabulary cards. ESL/ELD Resource guide-grades 1-8; Many roots, many voices; The newcomers' guide to Elementary school in Ontario; Amazing English!: an integrated ESL curriculum, the buddy book; Great beginnings; Theme booklets for new ESL/ELD learners; The Oxford picture dictionary for kids; Welcome to English: a picture dictionary for newcomers.
